Introduction



The workshop provides the participants an opportunity to undertake self-analysis, analyze individual behavior, understand group dynamics and identify skills in decision-making. Through structured instruments each of them learn about their competencies in interpersonal relationship and decision making in group and inter-group situations. It provides a learning platform, which highlights their competencies and gaps and offers insights into ways to acquire process competencies required for managing in the fast changing competitive environment.

 

Objectives:


• firstly, to help the participants to understand the processes of leadership; and
• Secondly, to help them understand their personal style, skills and orientation in providing leadership.

 



Programme Content:



Main focus areas of the programme


1. Leading a Team


This part of the program deals with the dynamics of team work and deriving results from the same. It will endeavor to plot team results in changing context and discuss reasons for the same. It will further bring to the forefront the stages of team building and focus to team roles.

 



2. Alignment for Maximizing Performance


When an organization is properly aligned it knows the right things to work on, has the right resources and infrastructure, shares objectives and information across departments, exposes interdependences among work groups and eliminates duplication of effort. The basic issues of roles, competencies and motivation will be addressed with a pointer to the goals.


3. Work of Leadership


This section will surface issues around Leadership and factors surrounding them. This module revolves around the self.
• Understanding and handling Self and others' behavior, Trust and Inter-personal Relationship Management.
• One’s own Conflict Management Orientation and a need to create collaborative environment.
• Participants' Leadership orientation between people and task.

4. Leadership Decision Styles


A basic function of leaders is to make decisions. This module deals with understanding of various modes of decision making and also which factors must be considered before a particular style is used. This is brought out through cases first attempted by participants’ in-groups and the decision tree. This is further supported through appropriate video clips.


5. Situational Leadership


• Leadership Style: and understanding leadership styles & his own orientation.
• Builds appreciation of what styles are pertinent in which situations and team scenarios.
• The leadership style in each stage of team development will be discussed.

The workshop will be fully experiential in nature and is designed around


• Leadership concepts that are practiced extensively in successful Corporations.
• Current Indian and Global Industry examples
• Go through the entire process of development of understanding of self and the environment in which he operates.
• Totally Interactive and based around cases, instruments and group work.

Faculty

 

Mr. Biswajit Ghosal


• A Management Consultant with more than 28 years of corporate experience.
• Earlier he was Chief Executive Officer of CG Powerware (A Joint Venture of Crompton Greaves and Powerware, USA).
• Mr. Ghosal, has worked with other national majors as BPL India, Escorts and Crompton Greaves.
• He has worked closely with many other multinationals as collaborators like Sanyo, Japan; Jeumont Schneider, France: Bosch Telecom, Germany and POWERWARE (Invensys Group, USA) to name a few.
• He has traveled extensively to more than 20 countries and has frequently worked in cross-national groups.
• Mr. Ghosal has consulted extensively in the areas of Long Term Planning, Visioning, Strategy Building, Organization Development and Change Management.
• He has worked extensively for Commonwealth Business Council, London to determine Business Environment in Indian subcontinent. He has consulted for Indian Aluminum Company, Kolkata, Suzlon Energy, Pune etc. He is a Certified Performance and Competency Developer.
